11 Days Left to Double Your Gift

11 Days Left | Oxygen Project

Embers is helping to build a medical-grade oxygen plant, and there are only 11 days left to double your gift to secure desperately-needed oxygen in Assam, India. This year, hospitals in India have seen thousands of patients perish in COVID-19’s second wave, in large part due to the nationwide oxygen shortage. The situation is particularly dire in isolated rural areas with no local source of medical-grade oxygen, as the lockdown has suspended most forms of transportation.

Our partnership with
Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) has focused our effort in Assam, a remote area of India where victims of the sex trade are regularly trafficked across borders from neighboring countries and hundreds of bonded laborers are forced into the province’s tea farms. EHA’s Burrows Memorial Christian Hospital serves Assam’s unemployed population, daily-wage workers, as well as survivors of sex trafficking seeking medical attention, regardless of their ability to pay. Our oxygen plant will provide immediate relief and long-term care to those vulnerable to exploitation.

Would you rise to the challenge of our $50,000 matching pledge?

Let's Finish Strong | 1 Mile 1 Child

Darren set out to bike 1,000 miles to raise $25,000 for the 1,000 children in the Turbhe area. We are pleased to report that Darren has surpassed his goal of biking 1,000 miles on the Tour Divide, the world’s longest off-pavement cycling route! Five states, 29 days, hail, lightning, windstorms, and many packs of gummy worms later, Darren has traversed an incredible 1,700 miles of cross-country terrain. Check out a quick highlight reel of his epic adventure in the video above.

So far, we have raised $21,539. Only $3,361 left to go — let’s finish strong with him!

By Embers Children Enjoy Summer Activities 05 Aug, 2022
Through your abundant love and generosity, Embers provides summer activities and outings where our children can play and explore away from the red-light area into which they were born. This year, they have visited a water park for the first time, participated in dance classes, and enrolled in a soccer camp. "The children in Turbhe live in an area fraught with danger," says Susanna Santosh, our Director of Education. "Their regular play area is a bare road or a mountain of rubble. Many kids just get shut up in the four walls of a tiny hut, locked in by parents who are protecting them from the harsh realities outside." Through Sahasee Embers Children's Center, we create space for them to enjoy their childhood in a safe environment – places where they can develop friendships, create, and be inspired. "The kids get to finally be kids," says Susanna. GIVE TODAY
